MAY 2013 News Letter

Hello,

 I am so excited that we have been so busy this past month! I hope it continues like this for a while.

 I hope all of you are doing well.  It has been nice visiting with all of you who have been stopping by the store.  I hadn't seen some of you for a while.  We have been making many new friends lately as well.

 We have lots of new classes for you this month. We hope you will join us for some of our activities.  Remember to sign up by the class deadlines or at least two days in advance.  If you have any requests for classes, please let me know and we will try to accommodate you.

 First of all, don't forget to mark your calendars for our National Scrapbook Day Open House on May 4, from 10-4. The cost is $15. There will be eight stations. Don't forget to bring your basic tool kit (or at least scissors and adhesives).  The theme is spring/nature.  I look forward to seeing you there.

 If you can't find a parking spot in the front of the store, there is parking in the back.  PLEASE DON'T BLOCK THE DRIVEWAY.

 We have new dies and new stamps among other things that we will be demonstrating.  If there's something you want that is sold out on Saturday, remember we can reorder.  Just be sure to fill out a special order form for the items you want.

Our loom knitting classes are doing well.  So far we've had a hat and scarf class.  This month's class will be with the long loom.  I like this because it goes very fast.  I've already made 13 hats.  Others have made even more.

Betty will also be teaching a quilling class with two new cards.  We have gotten some of the new quilling dies, papers and a few tools.  Some of these will be shown at the open house.

Ricci has signed on to make paper jewelry earrings. She has been wearing them to the store when she visits and has received many compliments. They are very colorful and you would never know they were made from paper. They would be great gifts. For those who don't wear earrings, they could also be used as pendants.

Alison is teaching the peel offs 2 class.  You will learn 3 new techniques using these stickers.  If you missed last month's peel offs 1, let me know and we will try to reschedule it for you. 

 By request, we have scheduled a stitching class as well.  This is a good technique for those of you who like to sew.  They make beautiful cards which can be adapted to any occasion.

We have had several people already sign up to take the poofy wreath class with Judy.  You will need to prepay for this class so I can provide you with the supply list.

Jessica has a full schedule of classes this month.  Most of the samples for her classes are already here on display. 

The Victorian Mother's Day Card/Book makes a beautiful vintage remembrance for Mother's Day or any other occasion you would send a card to a woman.

 She is also teaching a new book that could be used for any occasion.  She's  made it with a Father's Day/Masculine theme. 

 The stationery box has been rescheduled for this month since there was such an interest in it.  This makes a good end of year gift for teachers, Mother's Day, birthday, etc.  Those who took this class in April have already made several of these in a variety of themes.  The Graphic 45 papers made especially lovely boxes.

We are continuing the Monthly Graphic 45 cards and the scrapbook layout.

If you decide you want to take these classes, you must sign-up and prepay NO LATER THAN the 5th of each month.  This way we have time to cut the appropriate amounts of materials. We are now up to approximately 30 monthly participants.  If you sign up after that date, you will be responsible for cutting up your materials.  If you need a make up kit for any of the classes you missed, let us know so we can plan for make up classes/kits.

 Jessica has three other projects that would make great gifts for teachers, mothers, fathers, friends, etc.  They are the pad and pen set, the desk set, and the crayon box.  Be sure to stop by to see these samples and get some suggestions for alternate ideas of use.

Lenora will continue to work with the scrapbook layouts.  She will be doing some make up classes on some of the pages she has already done.  I believe the page for this month is for Mother's Day or generally for a woman.

 The classes I will be teaching this month are:  Stamping 101, Waterfall Cards and the Monthly Christmas Card.
